INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR

(a) Temporarily install the shift lever position sensor to the transaxle case sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

NOTICE:

Do not allow any water/moisture to enter the connector.

(b) Temporarily install the transmission control shaft lever to the manual valve lever shaft.

(c) Turn the transmission control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

(d) Remove the transmission control shaft lever from the manual valve lever shaft.

(e) Align the protrusions of the shift lever position sensor as shown in the illustration.

(f) Hold the shift lever position sensor in that position and tighten the 2 bolts.

Torque:

5.4 N·m {55 kgf·cm, 48 in·lbf}

(g) Install the transmission control shaft lever to the manual valve lever shaft with the washer and nut.

Torque:

12.7 N·m {130 kgf·cm, 9 ft·lbf}

NOTICE:

Be careful of the direction of the transmission control shaft lever.

(h) Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.

2. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT CABLE

NOTICE:

Before connecting the floor shift transmission control select cable, check that the shift lever is in N.

(a) Turn the transmission control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

(b) Connect the floor shift transmission control select cable to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket with a new clip.

(c) Connect the floor shift transmission control select cable to the transmission control shaft lever as shown in the illustration.
