DESCRIPTION

Using the current from the ECM, the shift solenoid valve SL1 controls the C1 clutch pressure and S1 synchronizer in accordance with the requested shift mode.

Using the current from the ECM, the shift solenoid valve SL2 controls the C2 clutch pressure in accordance with the requested shift mode.

By controlling the current, the ECM controls the shift solenoid valve SC1 and switches between forward driving control fluid pressure, and rearward driving control fluid pressure.

By controlling the current, the ECM controls the shift solenoid valve SC2 and switches the shift solenoid valve SL1 between the role of controlling the C1 clutch pressure and controlling the S1 synchronizer.

When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to gear mode, the C1 clutch is engaged and the input torque is transmitted to the 1st gear via the forward clutch drum.

When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to gear mode, the S1 synchronizer is engaged and input torque is transferred to the 1st gear.

When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to belt mode, the C2 clutch is engaged and the input torque is transmitted to the output shaft via the steel belt.

The shift stroke sensor detects the S1 synchronizer position using the magnet on the shift fork, and sends signals to the ECM.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

  • When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to gear mode, the shift solenoid valve SL1 and shift solenoid valve SC2 are turned ON and the C1 clutch is engaged. As a result, the transmission revolution sensor (NT) signal becomes equal to the transmission revolution sensor (NC1) signal.

By comparing the signals indicating the input shaft revolution (speed) and intermediate shaft (C1 clutch) revolution (speed), the ECM judges if the shift mode is gear mode or not.

When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to gear mode, if the difference between the transmission revolution sensor (NT) and (NC1) signals is more than 200 rpm, it determines that the shift solenoid valve SL1, SL2, SC1, SC2 or SC3 is malfunctioning, illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

    HINT:

The C1 clutch operates by line pressure from the shift control valve SL1 when the shift control valve SC2 is ON, so if the shift control valves SC1 and SC3 that exist upstream of the shift control valve SC2 are stuck ON, a C1 clutch release malfunction occurs, resulting in the same malfunction.

If the shift solenoid SL2 is stuck ON, the line pressure from the shift control valve SL1 is cut off by the action of the clutch control valve of the C1 clutch, a C1 clutch release malfunction occurs.

  • When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to belt mode, the shift solenoid valve SL2 is turned ON and the C2 clutch is engaged. As a result, the secondary pulley speed becomes equal to the output shaft speed.

By comparing the secondary pulley revolution speed and output shaft revolution speed, the ECM judges if the shift mode is belt mode or not.

When the ECM requests the shift mode to be changed to belt mode, if the difference between the secondary pulley speed and output shaft speed is more than 300 rpm, it determines the shift solenoid valve SL2, SC1 or SC3 is malfunctioning, illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

    HINT:

The C2 clutch operates by line pressure from shift control valve SL2, and if the shift control valves SC1 and SC3 that exist upstream of the shift control valve SL2 are stuck ON, a C2 clutch release malfunction occurs, resulting in the same malfunction.

  • When the shift solenoid valve SC2 turns ON, the shift solenoid valve SL1 controls the S1 synchronizer and moves it to the requested position according to the requested shift mode.

When the ECM detects that the S1 synchronizer is not in the appropriate position, it determines that the shift solenoid valve SL1, SC2 or shift stroke sensor is malfunctioning, illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC.
