Title: K120 / K121 (CVT): K121 CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE SYSTEM: P091412; Gear Shift Position Circuit Short to Battery; 2023 - 2025 MY Corolla Corolla Hatchback [03/2023 -        ]

DTC

P091412

Gear Shift Position Circuit Short to Battery

DESCRIPTION

A magnet is installed to the shift fork. When the ECM commands the S1 synchronizer to move, the shift fork moves the S1 synchronizer together and the magnet.

The Hall IC built into the shift stroke sensor converts the magnet position into a voltage signal and sends it to the ECM. The ECM judges the S1 synchronizer operating condition (whether the S1 synchronizer is engaged or released) based on this signal.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

This DTC indicates a short to +B in the shift stroke sensor circuit. If there is a short to +B in the shift stroke sensor circuit, the ECM detects the malfunction, illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

CAUTION:

When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

HINT:

  • After repairs have been completed, clear the DTCs and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.
  • When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the Clear Permanent DTC procedure.
