REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during engine coolant temperature sensor removal/installation are shown below.

HINT:
When the cable is disconnected / reconnected to the auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.
Learning completes when vehicle is driven

|
Drive the vehicle straight ahead at 15 km/h (9 mph) or more for 1 second or more.

PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (w/ No. 2 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)
(a) Drain the engine coolant (for Engine).

(b) Disconnect the No. 2 engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

(c) Disengage the clamp.
(d) Remove the clip and No. 2 engine coolant temperature sensor from the radiator pipe.
NOTICE:
If the No. 2 engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

2. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(a) Remove the EGR valve assembly.

(b) Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

(c) Using SST, remove the engine coolant temperature sensor from the water outlet.
SST: 09817-33191
NOTICE:
If the engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

(d) Remove the gasket from the engine coolant temperature sensor.
