When the cable is disconnected / reconnected to the battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

PROCEDURE
1. SECURE VEHICLE
(a) Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
CAUTION:
-
Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.
-
If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to N, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
2. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

4. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

5. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER

6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

9. REMOVE ECM

10. REMOVE BATTERY

11. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
(a) Remove the bolt and nut to disconnect the engine wire from the battery clamp sub-assembly.

12. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

13. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT CABLE
(a) Move the shift lever to N.
(b) Remove the nut and disconnect the floor shift transmission control select cable from the control shaft lever.

(c) Remove the clip and disconnect the floor shift transmission control select cable from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
14. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

(b) Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever from the park/neutral position switch assembly.
(c) Using a screwdriver, bend back the tabs of the lock plate.

(d) Remove the lock nut and lock plate from the park/neutral position switch assembly.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch assembly from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.
