REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
Click here
3. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL
(a) Remove the manual transmission filler plug and gasket.

(b) Remove the drain plug and gasket to drain the manual transaxle oil.
NOTICE:
The gasket must be replaced with a new one, as this will lead to oil leaks if it is not changed.
HINT:
The drain plug has a groove for draining oil, so oil can be drained by the drain plug loose without removing the drain plug to prevent oil splashing into the surrounding area.

(c) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque:
39.2 N·m {400 kgf·cm, 29 ft·lbf}
4. ADD MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL
(a) Add manual transaxle oil until the oil level is between 0 and 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the manual transmission filler plug opening.
Manual Transaxle Oil:
Toyota Genuine Manual Transmission Gear Oil "LV GL-4 and SAE 75W" or "API GL-4 and SAE 75W"
Standard Capacity:
w/ LSD
2.0 liters (2.1 US qts, 1.8 Imp. qts)
w/o LSD
2.1 liters (2.2 US qts, 1.8 Imp. qts)
NOTICE:
Using manual transaxle oil other than the specified oil may cause abnormal noise or vibration, or damage the transfer of your vehicle.

(b) Install a new gasket and the manual transmission filler plug.
Torque:
39.2 N·m {400 kgf·cm, 29 ft·lbf}
NOTICE:
-
When adding manual transaxle oil, make sure that the vehicle is level.
-
An excessively large or small amount of manual transaxle oil may cause problems.
-
After adding manual transaxle oil, drive the vehicle and recheck the oil level.
