REMOVAL
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during rear axle carrier sub-assembly removal/installation are shown below.

NOTICE:
-
To avoid degrading the precision of the assembly, do not loosen or remove the 2 bolts shown in the illustration.
-
If the bolts have been loosened or removed, use the following procedure to reassemble the parts.
-
Temporarily install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly with the 2 bolts.
-
Start the engine.
-
Depress the brake pedal to continuously apply hydraulic pressure.
-
Temporarily tighten bolt A to 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf).
-
Temporarily tighten bolt B to 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf).
-
Fully tighten bolt A to 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf).
-
Fully tighten bolt B to 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf).
-
Release the brake pedal to release the hydraulic pressure.
-
Check that the 2 bolts are tightened to 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf).
HINT:
-
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
-
The following procedure is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH (for LH Side)

3. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH (for LH Side)

4. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH (for RH Side)
Click here
5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH (for RH Side)
Click here
6. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT

7. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

8. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR
(a) Remove the bolt and separate the rear speed sensor from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Keep the tip of the rear speed sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.
-
Do not rotate or apply excessive force to the rear speed sensor when removing it from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Rotating or applying excessive force may result in damage to the rear speed sensor.

(b) Disengage the 2 clamps.
|
|
(c) Remove the bolt and separate the rear speed sensor from the rear trailing arm assembly.
9. REMOVE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose from the rear flexible hose bracket.

10. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

11. REMOVE DISK WHEEL SPACER

12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

13. REMOVE REAR DISC

14. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY

15. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the nut and separate the parking brake assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the parking brake assembly from hanging by the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

16. REMOVE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE BRACKET
(a) Remove the bolt and rear flexible hose bracket from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

17. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY

18. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING

19. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR

20. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY

21. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Loosen the 2 bolts of the rear trailing arm assembly.

(b) Loosen the nut of the rear shock absorber assembly.
NOTICE:
Hold the rear axle carrier pin while rotating the nut.
|
|
(c) Using a jack and a wooden block, support the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
When jacking up the rear axle carrier sub-assembly, be sure to jack it up slowly.
-
Make sure to perform this operation with the vehicle kept as low as possible.
|
|
(d) Loosen the bolt (A).
NOTICE:
Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear trailing arm assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
(f) Remove the nut and plate washer, and separate the rear shock absorber assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Hold the rear axle carrier pin while rotating the nut.
(g) Remove the bolt (A), nut and rear axle carrier sub-assembly from the rear upper control arm assembly.
NOTICE:
Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.
