REMOVAL

HINT:

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
-
The following procedure is for the LH side.
-
If the rear speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
-
The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor is malfunctioning, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR (except G16E-GTS)
(a) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the skid control sensor wire from the rear skid control sensor.
NOTICE:
-
Remove any dirt or foreign matter on and around the skid control sensor wire before performing this step.
-
Do not allow water, oil or dirt to enter the skid control sensor wire.
-
Be careful not to damage the rear skid control sensor or connector cover.

(b) Remove the bolt and the rear skid control sensor from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Keep the tip of the rear skid control sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.
-
Do not rotate or apply excessive force to the rear skid control sensor when removing it from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Rotating or applying excessive force may result in damage to the rear skid control sensor.

2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL (for G16E-GTS)

5. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY (for G16E-GTS)

6. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH (for G16E-GTS)

8. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH (for G16E-GTS)
(a) Remove a clip and separate a rear wheel house liner LH.

9. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER RH (for G16E-GTS)
(a) Remove a clip and separate a rear wheel house liner RH.

10. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH (for G16E-GTS)
(a) except G16E-GTS:
(1) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the skid control sensor wire from the rear skid control sensor.
NOTICE:
-
Remove any dirt or foreign matter on and around the skid control sensor wire before performing this step.

Do not allow water, oil or dirt to enter the skid control sensor wire.
-
Be careful not to damage the rear skid control sensor or connector cover.

(2) Remove the bolt and the rear skid control sensor from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Keep the tip of the rear skid control sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.

Do not rotate or apply excessive force to the rear skid control sensor when removing it from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Rotating or applying excessive force may result in damage to the rear skid control sensor.

(b) for G16E-GTS:
(1) Disconnect the rear speed sensor connector inside of the vehicle.
|
|
(2) Remove the bolt and separate the rear speed sensor from the rear trailing arm assembly.
|
|
(3) Disengage the 2 clamps and separate the rear speed sensor from the rear trailing arm assembly.
(4) Remove the bolt and separate the rear speed sensor from the vehicle body.
|
|
(5) Remove the bolt and the rear skid control sensor from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Keep the tip of the rear skid control sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.
-
Do not rotate or apply excessive force to the rear skid control sensor when removing it from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Rotating or applying excessive force may result in damage to the rear skid control sensor.
