INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The following procedure is for the LH side.
If the rear speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor is malfunctioning, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR (except G16E-GTS)

(a) Install the rear skid control sensor to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt.

Torque:

8.5 N·m {87 kgf·cm, 75 in·lbf}

(b) Connect the skid control sensor wire to the rear skid control sensor.

NOTICE:

Keep the tip of the rear skid control sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.
Firmly insert the rear skid control sensor body into the rear axle carrier sub-assembly before tightening the bolt.
After installing the rear skid control sensor to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly, make sure that there is no clearance between the rear skid control sensor stay and rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Also make sure that no foreign matter is stuck between the parts.

2. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR LH (for G16E-GTS)

(a) Install the rear speed sensor to the vehicle body with the bolt.

Torque:

8.5 N·m {87 kgf·cm}

NOTICE:

Keep the tip of the rear speed sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.
Firmly insert the rear speed sensor body into the rear axle carrier sub-assembly before tightening the bolt.
After installing the rear speed sensor to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly, make sure that there is no clearance between the rear speed sensor stay and rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Also make sure that no foreign matter is stuck between the parts.

(b) Install the rear speed sensor to the rear trailing arm assembly with the bolt.

Torque:

19 N·m {194 kgf·cm}

(d) Install the rear speed sensor to the vehicle body with the bolt.

Torque:

8 N·m {82 kgf·cm}

(e) Insert the connector and grommet of the rear speed sensor into the inside of the vehicle through the hole in the wheel house.

NOTICE:

Make sure the band clamp remains on the outside of the vehicle.

(f) Hold the tube of the grommet and pull it toward the outside of the vehicle, then secure the grommet to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:

When pulling out the grommet, do not grip the sensor wire.
Secure the grommet in place within the range shown in the illustration.

(g) Connect the rear speed sensor connector of the inside of the vehicle.

3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER RH (for G16E-GTS)

(a) Install a clip and rear wheel house liner RH.

4. INSTALL REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH (for G16E-GTS)

(a) Install a clip and rear wheel house liner LH.

5. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH (for G16E-GTS)
