Note

P2BF414

Exhaust Flow Control Valve "A" Position Circuit Low Circuit Short to Ground or Open

Diagnosis condition:

  • Ignition switch ON

Abnormal condition:

  • The exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly (opening angle sensor) output voltage is less than 0.08 V.

Malfunction time:

  • 3 seconds or more

Trip logic:

  • 1 trip detection logic

Detection conditions:

  • Continuous

Sensors/components used for detection:

  • Exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly (opening angle sensor)
  • Open or short in exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly circuit
  • Exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly
  • ECM

Does not come on

SAE Code: P2BF6

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When the ignition switch is turned ON and the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly (opening angle sensor) output voltage is less than 0.08 V for 3 seconds or more, the ECM determines that the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly (opening angle sensor) circuit is malfunctioning and stores a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

Read Freeze Frame Data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as Freeze Frame Data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, Freeze Frame Data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)

*a

Front view of wire harness connector

(to Exhaust Pipe Gas Control Actuator Sub-assembly)

HINT:

Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

(a) Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

O173-1 (RHVC) - Body ground

Ignition switch ON

4.5 to 5.5 V

NG

GO TO STEP 4

OK

2.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the ECM connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

O173-4 (RHVO) - C143-42 (EXA)

Always

Below 1 Ω

O173-4 (RHVO) or C143-42 (EXA) - Body ground and other terminals

Always

10 kΩ or higher

NG

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK

3.

CHECK INTERNAL RESISTANCE (ECM)

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

O173-4 (RHVO) - C143-42 (EXA)

Ignition switch off

37.05 to 40.95 kΩ

HINT:

As voltage is still supplied to the ECM after the ignition switch is turned off, this check cannot be performed correctly during the shut-down process.

OK
