Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

3. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly connector from the rear skid control sensor.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the rear skid control sensor or connector cover.

4. REMOVE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR

5. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT

6. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(a) Put matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly and differential side gear shaft sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers.
(c) Put matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly and rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

|
(d) Using a plastic hammer, separate the rear drive shaft assembly from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
HINT:
If it is difficult to remove, tap the end of the rear drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer.

(e) Push the rear drive shaft inboard joint assembly toward the outside of the vehicle and remove the rear drive shaft assembly from the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Do not damage the rear drive shaft inboard joint boot.

Do not damage the rear drive shaft outboard joint boot.
-
Do not drop the rear drive shaft assembly.
-
When removing the rear drive shaft assembly, keep it level.
