Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Compare Failure
|
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) measures the speed of each wheel by receiving signals from each speed sensor.
These signals are used for recognizing that all four wheels are operating properly.
Therefore, signals from all wheels must be equal.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
C116F:
-
When the vehicle speed is less than a certain value or is a certain value or more and the VSC operates continuously for a certain amount of time, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C124E (Case 1 and 2):
-
When an abnormal speed sensor output pulse is detected certain number of times or more, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C124E (Case 3):
-
When the VSC is not operating, the vehicle speed is less than a certain value, the output of the yaw rate sensor (airbag sensor assembly) exceeds a certain value, and any of the following conditions are met, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
-
The lowest speed sensor value is a certain value or more and the difference between the highest speed sensor value and lowest speed sensor value is more than a certain value.
-
The lowest speed sensor value is less than a certain value and the difference between the highest speed sensor value and lowest speed sensor value is more than a certain value.
-
The vehicle speed is a certain value or more, the lowest speed sensor value is a certain value or more, and the difference between the lowest speed sensor value and the highest speed sensor value is a certain value or more.
-
The vehicle speed is a certain value or more, the lowest speed sensor value is less than a certain value, the difference between the highest speed sensor value and lowest speed sensor value is a certain value or more, and the second highest speed sensor value is a certain value or less.
-
The difference between the highest speed sensor value and second highest speed sensor value is less than the difference between the second highest speed sensor value and the lowest speed sensor value, the difference between the third highest speed sensor value and the lowest speed sensor value is less than the difference between the highest speed sensor value and third highest speed sensor value, and the highest speed sensor value is more than a certain value.
C124E (Case 4):
-
The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) has a speed sensor circuit self-diagnosis function. When the skid control ECU detects a speed sensor circuit malfunction during self-diagnosis, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
NOTICE:
When performing the normal judgment procedure, make sure that the driver door is closed and is not opened at any time during the procedure.
HINT:
-
After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.
-
When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.
-
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
-
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
-
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
-
Turn the ignition switch off.
-
Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and turn the GTS on.
-
Wait for 1 minute or more. [*]
HINT:
[*]: Normal judgment procedure.
The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.
-
Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB* / Utility / All Readiness.
*: Electric Parking Brake System
-
Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT:
-
If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
-
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
-
If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE, perform driving pattern again.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
(c) Perform a road test under the same malfunction conditions recreated based on the Freeze Frame Data or customer problem analysis.
(d) Check the value of Wheel Speed and Vehicle Speed.
OK:
The value of each Wheel Speed and Vehicle Speed changes in accordance with vehicle speed and the maximum difference between any 2 sensors is less than 6%.
HINT:
If the result of the road test is within the specified range, it is possible that this DTC was stored due to a particular situation.
Using to the freeze frame data, the approximate vehicle conditions that were present when the DTC was stored can be determined.
