Title: BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM (for HV Model): C052C49; ABS Pump Motor Control Internal Electronic Failure; 2023 - 2025 MY Corolla Corolla HV [09/2022 - ] |
DTC
|
C052C49
|
ABS Pump Motor Control Internal Electronic Failure
|
DESCRIPTION
The ABS motor relay and pump motor are built into the brake actuator assembly.
If the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects a malfunction in the drive circuit of the pump motor, this DTC is stored.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
C052C (Case 1, 2, 4, 5 and 8):
-
The ABS motor relay has a self-diagnosis function that monitors the relay and relay drive circuit. When the self-diagnosis function detects a momentary interruption (open), short, or internal malfunction in the relay drive circuit, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C052C (Case 7):
-
The ABS motor relay has a self-diagnosis function that monitors the relay and relay drive circuit. When the vehicle is being driven at a certain speed and the self-diagnosis function detects a momentary interruption (open), short, or internal malfunction in the relay drive circuit, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C052C (Case 9):
-
The ABS motor relay has a self-diagnosis function that monitors the relay and relay drive circuit. When the vehicle is being driven at a certain speed and the self-diagnosis function detects the ABS motor relay is not operating correctly, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C052C (Case 10):
-
When the pump motor is not operating and the voltage applied to the pump motor is more than a certain value, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
NOTICE:
When performing the normal judgment procedure, make sure that the driver door is closed and is not opened at any time during the procedure.
HINT:
-
After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.
-
When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.
-
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
-
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
-
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
-
Turn the ignition switch off.
-
Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and turn the GTS on.
-
Depress the brake pedal several times to operate the pump motor of the brake actuator assembly. [*1]
-
Drive the vehicle at 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 1 second. [*2]
HINT:
[*1] to [*2]: Normal judgment procedure.
The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.
-
Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB* / Utility / All Readiness.
*: Electric Parking Brake System
-
Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT:
-
If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
-
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
-
If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE, perform driving pattern again.
