The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during transmission control cable assembly removal/installation are shown below.

CAUTION:

When the engine is hot, do not touch high-temperature areas such as the engine or exhaust pipe.
-
Touching high-temperature areas such as the engine and exhaust pipe could result in burns.
NOTICE:
After the ignition switch is turned off, the radio and display receiver assembly records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, make sure to wait at least 85 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. (for Navigation System and Audio and Visual System (for Gasoline Model))
PROCEDURE
1. SECURE VEHICLE
(a) Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
CAUTION:
-
Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.
-
If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to neutral, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
2. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

4. REMOVE BATTERY

5. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

7. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

8. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER

9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

12. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
(a) Remove the bolt and nut to disconnect the engine wire from the battery clamp sub-assembly.

13. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

14. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE

15. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)

16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
(a) Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator from the vehicle body.

17. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control select cable from the floor shift shift lever assembly.

(b) Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift shift lever assembly.
(c) Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control select cable.
NOTICE:
Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

(d) Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control select cable from the shift lever assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Do not rotate the nut excessively as the internal spring may jump out and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.
-
Do not forcibly pull the transmission control cable assembly into the cabin.

(e) Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift lever assembly in the same manner as the transmission control select cable.
(f) Remove the 2 clips (A) to disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the manual transaxle assembly.

|
(g) Remove the 2 clips (B) to disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket assembly.
(i) Disengage the guide and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle body.
(j) Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle body.
