EPS Warning Light Circuit

DESCRIPTION
Use the following procedure if no DTCs are output but the EPS warning light is illuminated continuously.
The power steering ECU with motor assembly controls the warning light in the combination meter assembly via CAN communication.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
NOTICE:
When the power steering ECU with motor assembly has been replaced, perform Power Steering ECUInitial Setting (torque sensor zero point calibration and assist map writing).

PROCEDURE
1.

CHECK VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (POWER STEERING SYSTEM)
|
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Utility / Vehicle Control History (RoB).
(d) Using the Techstream, check for Vehicle Control History.

HINT:
The EPS warning light illuminates if any vehicle control history is stored.

INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
|
(a) Perform the Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the Techstream.

Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test

EPS Warning

(b) Check the combination meter assembly.
OK:
The EPS warning light turns on or off in accordance with the Techstream operation.

INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

(a) Perform the Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the Techstream.

OK:
The multi-information display in the combination meter assembly turns on according to the operation of the Active Test.
