Both of following conditions are met:

  1. Power switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) pulled to lock side with power switch off.
  2. Parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly) power source relay circuit is open for approximately 0.5 seconds.
  • Parking brake actuator assembly
  • Parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly)

An electric parking brake system malfunction is displayed on the multi-information display.

Electric Current of Motor

Detection conditions (1)

  • Diagnosis Condition:

    Power switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) pulled to lock side with power switch off.

  • Malfunction Status:

    Parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly) internal current is abnormal.

  • Detection Time:

    Approximately 0.1 to 0.5 seconds (depending on each malfunction)

Detection conditions (2)

  • Diagnosis Condition:

    Within 3 seconds of power switch being turned on (IG)

  • Malfunction Status:

    Zero point calibration of current monitor does not complete.

  • Detection Time:

    Approximately 3 seconds

  • Parking brake actuator assembly
  • Parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly)

Electric Parking Brake ECU Malfunction

Both of following conditions are met:

  1. Power switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) pulled to lock side with power switch off.
  2. Internal current of Parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly) or ECU components abnormal for a maximum of 60 seconds (differs according to malfunction).
  • Parking brake actuator assembly

NOTICE:

After replacing the parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly), the parking brake indicator light (red) blinks when the power switch is turned on (IG) for the first time. To turn off the parking brake indicator light (red) after replacing the parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly), operate the electric parking brake switch to the lock side then to the release side.

INSPECT PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the parking brake actuator assembly.
