REMOVAL
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
NOTICE:
-
After cutting off the old adhesive remaining on the adhesion surface, apply new adhesive within 2 hours.
-
If the cut surface of the old adhesive is left exposed for a long time, the adhesion strength will be reduced, so apply the new adhesive quickly.
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE REAR SIDE SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

2. REMOVE REAR SIDE SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
3. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY
NOTICE:
-
After cutting off the old adhesive remaining on the adhesion surface, apply new adhesive within 2 hours.
-
If the cut surface of the old adhesive is left exposed for a long time, the adhesion strength will be reduced, so apply the new adhesive quickly.
(a) Disconnect each connector.
(b) Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the back door glass sub-assembly on the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

(c) Place matchmarks on the back door glass sub-assembly and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.
HINT:
Matchmarks are not necessary if the back door glass sub-assembly is not going to be reused.

(d) When using a windshield knife:
(1) Apply soapy water to the area around the adhesive.
(2) Insert a windshield knife into the adhesive between the back door glass and vehicle body.

(3) While keeping the windshield knife perpendicular to the outer surface of the back door glass, cut the adhesive by pulling the windshield knife around the back door glass.
NOTICE:
-
When separating the back door glass, take care not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.
-
When cutting the adhesive, take care not to damage the connectors on the back door glass.
-
Do not pry the back door glass with the windshield knife.
-
After cutting off the old adhesive remaining on the adhesion surface, apply new adhesive within 2 hours.
-
If the cut surface of the old adhesive is left exposed for a long time, the adhesion strength will be reduced, so apply the new adhesive quickly.
HINT:
Insert the windshield knife in an area where the gap between back door glass and vehicle body is large.
(e) When using piano wire:
(1) Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and back door glass sub-assembly from the interior.
(2) Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.
(3) Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
When separating the back door glass sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.
-
When cutting off the adhesive, take care not to damage the connectors on the back door glass sub-assembly.
-
After cutting off the old adhesive remaining on the adhesion surface, apply new adhesive within 2 hours.

(f) Using suction cups, disengage the No. 1 back window glass spacer and No. 2 back window glass spacer and remove the back door glass sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
The No. 1 back window glass spacer and No. 2 back window glass spacer are installed to the back door glass sub-assembly as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the back door glass sub-assembly when cutting the adhesive.
-
To prevent the back door glass sub-assembly from falling when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back door glass sub-assembly using suction cups.

(g) Using suction cups, remove the back door glass sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Be careful not to drop the back door glass sub-assembly.
-
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back door glass sub-assembly.
5. REMOVE LOWER BACK WINDOW MOULDING
(a) When reusing the back door glass:
(1) Using a scraper, remove the lower back window moulding.
NOTICE:
-
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
-
Be sure to replace the lower back window moulding with a new one.

6. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
(a) When reusing the back window glass:
(1) Using a scraper, remove the No. 1 back window glass stopper.
NOTICE:
-
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
-
Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass spacer with a new one.

7. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 back window glass spacer.
8. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP
HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 back window glass spacer.
9. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER
(a) When reusing the back door glass:
(1) Using a scraper, remove the back door glass spacer.
NOTICE:
-
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
-
Be sure to replace the back door glass spacers with new ones.

10. CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS
(a) When reusing the back door glass:
(1) Using a scraper, remove any remaining adhesive dam and adhesive residue from the back door glass.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

|
(2) Clean the outer circumference of the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.
NOTICE:
-
Do not touch the back door glass surface after cleaning it.
-
Even if using a new back door glass, clean it with a non-residue solvent.
11. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY
(a) Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
(1) Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
HINT:
Leave approximately 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) of adhesive on the vehicle body.
(2) Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.
HINT:
Even if all of the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
