DESCRIPTION
The side collision sensor RH circuit consists of the airbag ECU assembly and floor side airbag sensor RH.
The floor side airbag sensor RH detects impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the airbag ECU assembly to determine if the SRS should be deployed.
DTC B162A is stored when a malfunction is detected in the floor side airbag sensor RH or airbag ECU assembly.

PROCEDURE
1.

CHECK FLOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH
|
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
|

Floor Side Airbag Sensor LH

Airbag ECU Assembly
|
|
|
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Interchange the floor side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs.

HINT:
Codes other than DTCs B162A and B163A may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(j) Turn the ignition switch off.
(k) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(l) Return the floor side airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
