Title: SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM (w/ Occupant Classification System): B166A; Pressure Sensor Difference for Front Door; 2019 - 2020 MY RAV4 RAV4 HV [02/2019 - 08/2020] |
DTC
|
B166A
|
Pressure Sensor Difference for Front Door
|
DESCRIPTION
The side airbag pressure sensor LH and side airbag pressure sensor RH detect impacts to the vehicle through changes in pressure inside the front doors caused by deformation of the outer side of the front doors and send signals to the airbag ECU assembly.
Based on the signals sent by the side airbag pressure sensor, the airbag ECU assembly determines if the SRS should be deployed.
If the difference between the pressure detected by the side airbag pressure sensor LH and the pressure detected by the side airbag pressure sensor RH exceeds a certain value a certain number of times, the airbag ECU assembly will output DTC B166A.
DTC No.

CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH
|
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Replace the side airbag pressure sensor LH with a known good one.
HINT:
-
Perform the following inspection using known good parts from another vehicle if possible.
-
When using a new part, since the side airbag pressure sensor LH and RH have the same part number, prepare either one.
-
A prepared side airbag pressure sensor can also be used for the side airbag pressure sensor RH inspection.
(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory.
Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs
(g) Turn the ignition switch off.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs.
Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes
HINT:
Codes other than DTC B166A may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(j) Turn the ignition switch off.
(k) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(l) Restore the side airbag pressure sensor LH that was installed for testing to its original location.

-
Perform the following inspection using known good parts from another vehicle if possible.
-
Use the door side airbag sensor that was prepared during the door side airbag sensor LH inspection.
(b) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(d) Clear the DTCs stored in memory.
Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs
(e) Turn the ignition switch off.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(g) Check for DTCs.
