REGISTRATION

PROCEDURE

1. ECU EXCHANGE

NOTICE:

  • When replacing the engine stop and start ECU, make sure to download the number of starter operations (step 1). After replacing the engine stop and start ECU (step 2), write the number of starter operations to the new engine stop and start ECU (step 3).
  • After replacing the engine stop and start ECU, make sure to perform external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) existence learning (step 4).
  • Even if the number of starter operations could not be downloaded, after replacing the engine stop and start ECU with a new one, make sure to perform external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) existence learning (step 4).
  • When the engine stop and start ECU is replaced, check the oil pump with solenoid assembly.

(a) Download the engine stop and start ECU data. (Step 1)

(1) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(3) Turn the Techstream on.

(4) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / ECU Exchange.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

Tester Display

ECU Exchange

(5) According to the display on the Techstream, select "Step 1 Save" and then "Next" to download the ECU data from the engine stop and start ECU.

(b) Replace the engine stop and start ECU. (step 2)

(1) Replace the engine stop and start ECU.

(c) Write the engine stop and start ECU data to the new engine stop and start ECU. (Step 3)

(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(2) Turn the Techstream on.

(3) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / ECU Exchange.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

Tester Display

ECU Exchange

(4) According to the display on the Techstream, select "Step 3 Write" and then "Next" to write the ECU data to the new engine stop and start ECU.

(d) Perform external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) existence learning. (Step 4)

(1) According to the display on the Techstream, select "Step 4 Learning" and then "Next" to perform external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) existence learning.

HINT:

  • If the external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) existence value of the old engine stop and start ECU differs from the current learned value or if data could not be downloaded from the old engine stop and start ECU, the learning result will be displayed.
  • If the external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) existence value of the old engine stop and start ECU was "available" but the value after replacement is "not available", the external backup boost converter (eco run vehicle converter assembly) may not be connected securely. Check the connector connection condition and perform learning again.

2. CLEAR NUMBER OF STARTER OPERATIONS

NOTICE:

  • After the starter assembly is replaced, be sure to clear the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU.
  • When the starter assembly is replaced, "ST NO. 1 relay" and "ST NO. 2 relay" must be also replaced.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Starter Exchange.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

Tester Display

Starter Exchange

(e) Following the prompts on the Techstream display, clear the number of starter operations.

3. RESET AIR CONDITIONING INFORMATION

NOTICE:

After replacing the engine stop and start ECU or air conditioning amplifier assembly, initialization of the air conditioning information in the engine stop and start ECU is necessary.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Reset A/C Information.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

Tester Display

Reset A/C Information

(e) Following the prompts on the Techstream display, clear the A/C information.

4. LEARNING AIR CONDITIONING INFORMATION

HINT:

When initialization of the air conditioning information is complete, air conditioning information learning is automatically performed. If the learning cannot be performed properly, inspect the CAN communication system.

5. CLEAR THE ZERO POINT CALIBRATION DATA

NOTICE:

  • After replacing the engine stop and start ECU or airbag ECU assembly, perform deceleration sensor zero point clear and calibration.
  • Once the zero point is stored, it cannot be overwritten until the data is cleared. Be sure to perform zero point clear and calibration after replacing the airbag ECU assembly.

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Move the shift lever to P and apply the parking brake.

(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

HINT:

Do not start the engine.

(e) Turn the Techstream on.

(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Clear.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

Tester Display

Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Clear

NOTICE:

When the deceleration sensor zero point is cleared, the system information stored in the engine stop and start ECU is also cleared. If the vehicle is driven for 5 seconds or more at 3 km/h (2 mph) or more in this condition, the engine stop and start ECU will store DTC P158954 and blink the stop and start cancel indicator.

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.

6. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION OF THE DECELERATION SENSOR

NOTICE:

Park the vehicle on a level surface (grade: +/-1%). Do not shake the vehicle or open/close any of the doors during zero point calibration. To avoid vibration caused by the engine idling, do not start the engine.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Check that the shift lever is in P.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

HINT:

Do not start the engine.

(d) Check that the parking brake is applied.

(e) Turn the Techstream on.

(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

Tester Display

Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration

HINT:

If DTC P158954 is stored, the stop and start cancel indicator will blink.

(g) While keeping the vehicle stationary, follow the prompts on the Techstream screen. Check that "Complete" is displayed on the Techstream screen.

NOTICE:

If zero point calibration fails, perform the registration procedure again from "CLEAR THE ZERO POINT CALIBRATION DATA".

7. CLEAR THE INTEGRATED CURRENT VALUE

HINT:
