HINT:

Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

NOTICE:

In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / Front Recognition Camera / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Cause:

  • When the area around the forward recognition camera is dirty or there is foreign matter (fogging, condensation, frost, etc.)
  • The forward recognition camera cannot detect the conditions around the vehicle due to darkness, backlighting, snow, fog, etc.

Perform the following inspections

  • Is a non-genuine Toyota windshield glass installed?
  • Is the front wiper rubber deteriorated?
  • Is there a sticker, accessory, luggage or other object obstructing the forward recognition camera?
  • Is there snow, ice, fogging, dirt, frost, dust or oil film on the windshield glass in front of the forward recognition camera?
  • Are there cracks or scratches on the windshield glass in front of the forward recognition camera?
  • Is a non-genuine Toyota windshield glass installed?
  • Is the vehicle being driven in inclement weather?

    (The forward recognition camera cannot detect the conditions around the vehicle due to darkness, backlighting, snow, fog, etc.)

  • Is the inside of the windshield glass dirty?

Measures:

  • If the inside of the windshield glass is dirty, clean it.*

Becomes "ON" when the forward recognition camera was subjected to the following conditions in the past

  • When the area around the forward recognition camera is dirty or there is foreign matter (fogging, condensation, frost, etc.)
  • The forward recognition camera cannot detect the conditions around the vehicle due to darkness, backlighting, snow, fog, etc.
  • The inside of the windshield glass is dirty

When this item is displayed as "ON", "Front Camera Vision Blocked Clean and Demist Windshield" was being displayed on the multi-information display

Measures:

  • If the inside of the windshield glass is dirty, clean it.*

ACTIVE TEST

HINT:

Using the Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / Front Recognition Camera / Active Test.

(e) Perform Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

HINT:

The power switch must be turned on (IG) to proceed with the Active Test using the Techstream.
