DTC

C1430

Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch OFF Stuck Malfunction

DTC

C1431

Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch ON Stuck Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The brake pedal load sensing switch (brake pedal support assembly) turns on when the brake pedal is depressed with a force exceeding a predetermined level.

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) uses this circuit to detect if the brake pedal is depressed or not.

DTC No.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

C1430

Any of the following is detected:

  1. With the stop light switch assembly on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off, and the master cylinder pressure 6 MPa (61.2 kgf/cm2, 870 psi) or more, the deceleration is 0.4 G or more for 1 second or more.
  2. With the stop light switch assembly on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off, and the master cylinder pressure 6 MPa (61.2 kgf/cm2, 870 psi) or more, the vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph) for 5 seconds or more.
  • Brake pedal load sensing switch (brake pedal support assembly)
  • Brake pedal load sensing switch circuit
  • Skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)

C1431

Any of the following is detected:

  1. Immediately after the ignition switch turned to ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch is on and the stop light switch assembly is off for 10 seconds or more.
  2. The condition that the brake pedal load sensing switch remains on while the vehicle speed increases from 0 km/h (0 mph) to 30 km/h (19 mph) occurs 5 times in succession.
  • Brake pedal load sensing switch (brake pedal support assembly)
  • Brake pedal load sensing switch circuit
  • Skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to DTC C1429 (See page 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1429; Open or Short in Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch+ ).

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

When replacing the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), perform zero point calibration and store system information (See page 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: CALIBRATION ).

HINT:

When C1425 and/or C1426 is output together with C1430 and/or C1431, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by C1425 and/or C1426 first (See page 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1425; Open in Stop Light Switch Circuit and/or 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1426; Stop Light Switch OFF Stuck Malfunction ).

PROCEDURE

1.

READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.

(e) Select the Data List using the Techstream (See page 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ).

(f) Check that the stop light switch assembly display and brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the Techstream change according to brake pedal operation.

OK:

The Techstream displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.

(g) Slowly depress the brake pedal, and check when the stop light switch assembly and brake pedal load sensing switch turn on.

OK:

First the stop light switch assembly should turn on, and then the brake pedal load sensing switch should turn on.

RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Clear the DTCs (See page 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

(c) Turn the ignition switch off.

(d) Start the engine.

(e) Perform a road test.

(f) Check if the same DTC is output (See page 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
