REMOVAL
PROCEDURE
1. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

3. REMOVE BATTERY

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY

5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET

9. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL LH
10. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

11. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH
Click here
12. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
Click here
13. DISCONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the transmission oil cooler.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any coolant which flows out of the No. 3 water by-pass hose and transmission oil cooler.

14. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INLET OIL COOLER HOSE
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 inlet oil cooler hose from the transmission oil cooler.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the No. 2 inlet oil cooler hose and transmission oil cooler.

15. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OUTLET OIL COOLER HOSE
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 outlet oil cooler hose from the transmission oil cooler.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the No. 1 outlet oil cooler hose and transmission oil cooler.

16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER
(b) Disengage the hook to remove the transmission oil cooler from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any coolant and automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the transmission oil cooler.
17. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL THERMOSTAT
(a) Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly from the transmission oil thermostat.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the transmission oil thermostat and No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose assembly.

(b) Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the No. 2 transmission oil cooler hose and No. 1 outlet oil cooler hose from the transmission oil thermostat.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the transmission oil thermostat, No. 2 outlet oil cooler hose and No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose.
(c) Remove the bolt and transmission oil thermostat from the transmission oil cooler stay.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the transmission oil thermostat.

18. DISCONNECT NO. 2 OUTLET OIL COOLER HOSE
(a) Remove the automatic transmission oil cooler tube clamp.
|
|
(b) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 outlet oil cooler hose from the oil cooler tube assembly.
19. DISCONNECT NO. 1 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSE
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hose from the oil cooler union sub-assembly.

20. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL COOLER WITHOUT HOSE TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 inlet oil cooler hose.
NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any automatic transaxle fluid which flows out of the No. 1 inlet oil cooler hose and transmission oil cooler.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and oil cooler tube assembly to the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly and No. 3 engine mounting bracket.
(c) Slide the 3 clips and remove the No. 1 outlet oil cooler hose, No. 1 inlet oil cooler hose and No. 2 inlet oil cooler hose from the No. 1 oil cooler without hose tube sub-assembly.
