BUS IC Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The air conditioning harness connects the air conditioning amplifier and each servo. The air conditioning amplifier supplies power and sends operation instructions to each servo through the air conditioning harness. Each servo sends the damper position information to the air conditioning amplifier.

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1.

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test.

(e) Check the operation by referring to the table below.

(a) Replace the air mix control servo motor (for driver side) (See page 2017 - 2020 MY Sienna [08/2016 -        ]; HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: FRONT AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: DISASSEMBLY ).

HINT:

Since the servo motor cannot be inspected while it is removed from the vehicle, replace the servo motor with a new or a known good one and check that the condition returns to normal.

REPLACE AIR MIX CONTROL SERVO MOTOR (FOR FRONT PASSENGER SIDE)

(a) Replace the air mix control servo (for front passenger side) (See page 2017 - 2020 MY Sienna [08/2016 -        ]; HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: FRONT AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: DISASSEMBLY ).

HINT:

Since the servo motor cannot be inspected while it is removed from the vehicle, replace the servo motor with a new or a known good one and check that the condition returns to normal.

(b) Check for the DTC.

HINT:

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR AIR CONDITIONING HARNESS - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)

(a) Disconnect the L23 rear air conditioning harness connector.

(b) Disconnect the D186 air conditioning amplifier connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Disconnect the D75 and D186 air conditioner amplifier connectors.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
