REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See page ).

PROCEDURE

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See page ).

2. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE

4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP

5. REMOVE NO. 1 SLIDE DOOR WEATHERSTRIP

6. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER

(a) Disengage the 3 claws to remove the lap belt outer anchor cover.

7. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt to disconnect the floor anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly.

8. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR LOWER GARNISH

9. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR UPPER GARNISH

10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the nut and shoulder anchor.

(b) w/ Selectable Force Limiter:

(1) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, release the locking button. Text in Illustration *1 Locking Button *2 Selectable Force Limiter Connector *3 Pretensioner Connector *a Protective Tape

(2) Disconnect the pretensioner connector and selectable force limiter connector.

(c) w/o Selectable Force Limiter:

(1) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, release the locking button. Text in Illustration *1 Locking Button *a Protective Tape

(2) Disconnect the pretensioner connector.

(3) w/ Pre-crash Safety System:

(d) Remove the 2 bolts.

(e) Disengage the 2 hooks to remove the front seat outer belt assembly.

11. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts.

(b) Disengage the hook to remove the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly.
