DTC

C1A11

Front Radar Sensor Incorrect Axial Gap

DTC

C1A14

Front Radar Sensor Beam Axis Not Adjusted

DESCRIPTION

The driving support ECU uses the millimeter wave radar sensor to detect obstacles in front of the vehicle.

Based on this information, the driving support ECU sends pre-collision control operation signals.

When the vehicle is determined to be driving in a straight line or on a slow curve based on signals from the yaw rate sensor etc., the millimeter wave radar sensor performs a self diagnosis to check if the sensor beam axis is deviated from the vehicle movement direction. When the millimeter wave radar sensor beam axis is deviated, the driving support ECU detects this, and stores DTC C1A11.

After installing a new millimeter wave radar sensor, if the sensor beam axis adjustment is not performed, DTC C1A14 is stored.

DTC No.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

C1A11

When the ignition switch is ON, misalignment of the millimeter wave radar sensor is detected for approximately. 1 second.

  • Millimeter wave radar sensor
  • Driving support ECU

C1A14

When the ignition switch is ON, an unadjusted millimeter wave radar sensor beam axis is detected for approximately. 1 second.

  • Millimeter wave radar sensor
  • Driving support ECU

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

When the millimeter wave radar sensor is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the radar sensor beam axis must be performed (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; CRUISE CONTROL: MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR: ADJUSTMENT ).

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR

(a) Check the millimeter wave radar sensor installation (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; CRUISE CONTROL: MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR: INSTALLATION ).

NEXT

2.

ADJUST MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR

(a) Adjust the millimeter wave radar sensor (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; CRUISE CONTROL: MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR: ADJUSTMENT ).

NEXT

3.

CHECK FOR DTC (PRE-COLLISION 2 SYSTEM)

(a) Using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Pre-Collision 2 / Trouble Codes.

(b) Clear the DTCs (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; PRE-COLLISION: PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

(c) Check for DTCs (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; PRE-COLLISION: PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

OK:

DTC C1A11 or C1A14 is not output.

OK

4.

REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR

(a) Replace the millimeter wave radar sensor (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; CRUISE CONTROL: MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR: REMOVAL ).

NEXT

5.

ADJUST MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR

(a) Adjust the millimeter wave radar sensor (See page 2016 - 2017 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 11/2017]; CRUISE CONTROL: MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR: ADJUSTMENT ).

NEXT

6.

HINT:

After performing the radar beam axis adjustment, if the same DTC is output again after the DTC detection conditions are met, replace the driving support ECU.

OK
