DTC

B1650/32

Occupant Classification System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The occupant classification system circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the occupant classification system.

If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the occupant classification ECU, it determines whether the front passenger airbag, the front seat side airbag RH and front seat outer belt should be operated.

DTC B1650/32 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the occupant classification system circuit.

DTC No.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

B1650/32

When one of following conditions is met:

  • Occupant classification system malfunction
  • The center airbag sensor assembly receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the occupant classification system circuit for 2 seconds.
  • Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction
  • No. 2 Floor wire
  • Front seat wire RH
  • Occupant classification system
  • Center airbag sensor assembly

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FOR DTC (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 10 seconds.

(b) Check for the DTCs of the occupant classification ECU (See page 2016 - 2020 MY Sienna [12/2015 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

OK:

DTC is not output.

2.

CHECK FOR DTC (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(b) Clear the DTCs (See page 2016 - 2020 MY Sienna [12/2015 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

(c) Turn the ignition switch off.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Check for DTCs (See page 2016 - 2020 MY Sienna [12/2015 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

OK:

DTC B1650/32 is not output.

HINT:

Codes other than DTC B1650/32 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

3.

CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the occupant classification ECU.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

NG

CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

OK

4.

CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the occupant classification ECU.

(b) Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and occupant classification ECU side) are not damaged.

OK:

The connectors are not deformed or damaged.
