REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See page 2016 - 2020 MY Sienna [12/2015 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION ).

HINT:

The procedure described below is for the LH side. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides, unless otherwise specified.

PROCEDURE

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See page 2016 MY Sienna [12/2015 - 08/2016]; INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION 2017 MY Sienna [08/2016 - 11/2017]; INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION 2018 - 2020 MY Sienna [11/2017 -        ]; INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION ).

2. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

(See page 2016 - 2020 MY Sienna [12/2015 -        ]; LIGHTING (EXT): HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL )

3. REMOVE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH

CAUTION:

Confirm that the negative battery terminal is disconnected before performing the operation. Even an impact to only the airbag sensor will cause the airbag to deploy.

(a) Disconnect the connector from the front airbag sensor.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(1) Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

(2) Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:

Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting.

(3) After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and the front airbag sensor.
