INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See page ).

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL STEERING PAD

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Connect the horn terminal. Text in Illustration *1 Locking Button

(d) Connect the 2 airbag connectors.

(e) Engage the 3 pins with the 3 snap rings to install the steering pad.

NOTICE:

Pull the steering pad to ensure that it is securely engaged.

2. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER

(a) Engage the guide and claw to install the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

3. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

HINT:

Use the same procedure as for the No. 3 side.

4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See page ).

Torque:

5.4 N·m {55 kgf·cm, 48 in·lbf}

5. INSPECT STEERING PAD

(a) Inspect the steering pad (See page ).

(b) Make sure that the horn sounds.

HINT:

If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system (See page ).

6. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

(See page )
