Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch ON Stuck Malfunction
|
DESCRIPTION
The brake pedal load sensing switch is turned on when the brake pedal is depressed with force exceeding a predetermined level.
The skid control ECU detects if the brake pedal is depressed or not via this circuit.

Trouble Area
|
C1430
|
Either of the following is detected:
-
With the stop light switch ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch OFF, and the master cylinder pressure 6 MPa or more, the deceleration is 0.4 G or more for 1 second or more.
-
With the stop light switch ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch OFF, and the master cylinder pressure 6 MPa or more, the vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph) for 5 seconds or more.

C1431
|
Either of the following is detected:
-
Immediately after the ignition switch is turned to ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch is ON and the stop light switch is OFF for 10 seconds or more.
-
The condition that the brake pedal load sensing switch remains ON while the vehicle speed increases from 0 km/h (0 mph) to 30 km/h (18 mph) occurs 5 times in succession.

WIRING DIAGRAM
Refer to DTC C1429 (See page
).
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
NOTICE:
When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration and store system information (See page
).
HINT:
When DTC C1425 and/or C1426 is output together with DTC C1430 and/or C1431, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC C1425 and/or C1426 first (See page
, or
).
PROCEDURE
1.
|
READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT SWITCH AND BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH)
|
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/ TRAC / Data List.
(e) Select the Data List on the Techstream (See page
).

(f) Check that the stop light switch display and brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the Techstream change according to brake pedal operation.
OK:
The Techstream displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.
(g) Slowly depress the brake pedal, and check when the stop light switch and brake pedal load sensing switch turn ON.
OK:
First the stop light switch should turn ON, and then the brake pedal load sensing switch should turn ON.
