REMOVAL
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
HINT:
Replace the RH side by the same procedures as the LH side.
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT (for AWD)
3. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
(a) Removing the 2 bolts, separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
5. REMOVE REAR DISC
6. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for 2WD)
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw of the connector lock portion and disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector.
NOTICE:
Do not remove the connector cover from the connector because the skid control sensor wire connector may be damaged.

7. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR (for AWD)
(a) Removing the 2 bolts and separate the rear speed sensor.
NOTICE:
-
Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
-
Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the speed sensor.

8. SEPARATE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for AWD)
(a) Put matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly and rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

NOTICE:
Do not punch the matchmarks.

(b) Using a plastic hammer, separate the rear drive shaft assembly from the axle hub and bearing assembly.
NOTICE:
-
Do not pull the rear axle further out of the vehicle than is necessary.
-
Do not damage the outboard joint boot.
HINT:
If it is difficult to separate, tap the end of the rear drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer.
9. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 nuts and hub and bearing assembly LH.

10. REMOVE REAR INNER AXLE BEARING RETAINER (for 2WD)
(a) Remove the rear inner axle bearing retainer.
