2. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

4. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL PIPE

5. REMOVE OIL PIPE

6. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

7. SEPARATE OIL COOLER PIPE (w/ oil cooler)

(a) Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and disconnect the oil cooler pipe from the oil pan sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the gasket from the oil pan sub-assembly.

8. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING

9. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)

14. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 23 bolts and 2 nuts shown in the illustration.

(b) Remove the timing chain cover by prying between the timing chain cover and cylinder head or cylinder block with a screwdriver.

Protective Tape

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head, cylinder block and chain cover.

HINT:

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(c) Remove the gasket.

15. REMOVE TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL

(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
