Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill
Removal Procedure- Front Compartment Air Deflector»Remove—Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement

- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Transmission Fluid Drain Plug(1)»Remove
- Transmission Fluid Filler Tube Plug(2)»Remove
Installation Procedure

- Clean the transmission fluid drain plug (1) and apply sealant. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Transmission Fluid Drain Plug(1)»Install and tighten—Fastener Specifications
Caution: The transmission fluid level must be checked when the transmission fluid temperature is at 15–35°C (59–95°F). If the transmission fluid temperature is not at this range, operate the vehicle or allow the fluid to cool as required. Setting the transmission fluid level with fluid temperature outside this range will result in either an under or over-filled transmission. Fluid temperature higher than 35°C will
result in an under-filled condition. Fluid temperature lower than 15°C will result in an over-filled condition. An under-filled transmission will cause premature component damage. An over-filled transmission will cause fluid to discharge out the vent tube, fluid foaming, or pump cavitation.
Caution: USE #160 ONLY Dexron® ULV transmission fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid may result in damaging the transmission internally.
Note:
- The quart containers of Dexron® ULV must be shaken to stir up the additives before pouring.
- Do not overfill the transmission. An overfilled transmission may result in foaming or fluid to be expelled out the vent tube when the vehicle is operated.
- Using a commercially available hand pump, add transmission fluid through the transmission fluid filler tube plug (2) hole.
- Transmission Fluid Filler Tube Plug(2)»Install
- Wait for 5 minutes until oil reaches the bottom of transmission.
- Remove the drain pan.
- With the vehicle in service mode and the transmission in Park (P), use the scan tool, command transmission fluid pump speed to 2000 for 2 minutes.
- Ensure transmission fluid temperature is 15–35°C (59–95°F).
- Continue to monitor the transmission fluid temperature. If the transmission fluid temperature is not within the specified values, repeat the previous step.

Note: The transmission fluid pump must not be running when the automatic transmission fluid pressure test hole plug (1) is removed or excessive fluid loss will occur, resulting in an under-filled condition.
- Turn off fluid pump. Wait 2 minutes then remove the automatic transmission fluid pressure test hole plug (1).
- Verify fluid slowly drips from the automatic transmission fluid pressure test hole plug (1) hole.
- If the fluid is flowing as a steady stream, wait until the fluid begins to drip.
Note: It may be necessary to use a long pair of 90 degree needle nose pliers to lift the plunger and remove the plug assembly.
- If no fluid comes out, remove the transmission fluid filler tube plug (2) and add 0.5 L (0.52 qts) of fluid at a time using a pneumatic air fluid dispenser pump tool or a commercially available hand pump through the case fill hole until fluid drips out, Install the transmission fluid filler tube plug (2).
- Clean the automatic transmission fluid pressure test hole plug (1) and apply sealant. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Automatic Transmission Fluid Pressure Test Hole Plug(1)»Install and tighten—Fastener Specifications
- With the vehicle in service mode and the transmission in Park (P), use the scan tool, command the transmission fluid pump speed to on for 1 minute for lubrication.
- Vehicle Off.
