Signal | The control module input circuit has an internal resistance connected to ground. |

Conditions for Running the DTCP0451- DTC P0442=Running
- Ignition=Off
Frequency the DTC runs=2 times—After the running conditions are met
P0452, P0453- DTC P1001, P1005, U18A2 = Not set
- Ignition=On
Frequency the DTC runs=Continuously—After the running conditions are met
P0454- DTC P0442=Running
- Ignition=Off
- Refueling Event Detected=No—For greater than 10 min

Conditions for Setting the DTCP0451Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=Not within a calibrated range

Conditions for Clearing the DTC- DTC P0451, P0454=Type A DTC
- DTC P0452, P0453=Type B DTC
Diagnostic AidsP0451, P0454- Do not replace K111 control module if only DTC P0451 is set.
- A restriction in the vent system could prevent fuel vapor pressure from bleeding off fast enough. If the pressure cannot bleed off fast enough a DTC sets.
- Ensure that the fresh air inlet, reference port, or vent of the component is clean, dry, and unobstructed:B150 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

- If within 1.9 mmHg (1.0 in H2O) of each other

Verify the scan tool parameter:Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=-1.9 to 1.9 mmHg (−1.0 to 1.0 in. H2O)—Within 3 s
- If not between -1.9 to 1.9 mmHg (-1.0 to 1.0 in. H2O)orDoes not decrease within the specified time

- Verify the scan tool parameter:Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=The parameter value should not change
Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
- Wiggle the harness and connector(s):B150 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
- Wiggle the harness and connector(s):K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- If the parameter value does not change
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- All OK.
Circuit/System TestingNote: Do not replace K111 control module if only DTC P0451 is set.
Note: It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:B150 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the test points:Low Reference circuit terminal 2&Ground
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:Low Reference circuit terminal 2@Component harness&The other end of the circuit@Control module harness
- If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Test for 4.8 to 5.2 V between the test points:5 V Reference circuit terminal 3&Low Reference circuit terminal 2
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:5 V Reference circuit terminal 3@Component harness&Ground
- If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:5 V Reference circuit terminal 3@Component harness&The other end of the circuit@Control module harness
- If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:5 V Reference circuit terminal 3@Component harness&Ground
- If 1 V or greater » Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Verify the scan tool parameter:Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=Less than 0.2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1@Component harness&Ground
- If 1 V or greater » Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1&5 V Reference circuit terminal 3
- Verify the scan tool parameter:Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=Greater than 4.7 V
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Jumper wire(s)
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1@Component harness&Ground
- If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1@Component harness&The other end of the circuit@Control module harness
- If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test or replace the component:B150 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
