Circuit/System Description

For an overview of the component/system, refer to:Evaporative Emission Control System Description

Circuit

Description

5 V Reference

Regulated voltage supplied by the control module.

Signal

The control module input circuit has an internal resistance connected to ground.

Low Reference

Grounded through the control module.

Component

Description

B150 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

The pressure sensor is a 3 wire piezo-resistive pressure transducer.

The sensor measures the pressure in the component:Fuel Tank

K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module

The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs.

The control module communicates with the engine control module via serial data.

Conditions for Running the DTCP0451
  • DTC P0442=Running
  • Ignition=Off

Frequency the DTC runs=2 times—After the running conditions are met

P0452, P0453
  • DTC P1001, P1005, U18A2 = Not set
  • Ignition=On

Frequency the DTC runs=Continuously—After the running conditions are met

P0454
  • DTC P0442=Running
  • Ignition=Off
  • Refueling Event Detected=No—For greater than 10 min

Frequency the DTC runs=Once—After the running conditions are met

Conditions for Setting the DTCP0451

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=Not within a calibrated range

P0452

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=Less than 0.15 V—For greater than 10 s

P0453

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor=Greater than 4.85 V—For greater than 10 s

P0454

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
  • DTC P0451, P0454=Type A DTC
  • DTC P0452, P0453=Type B DTC
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
  • DTC P0451, P0454=Type A DTC
  • DTC P0452, P0453=Type B DTC
Diagnostic AidsP0451, P0454
  • Do not replace K111 control module if only DTC P0451 is set.
  • A restriction in the vent system could prevent fuel vapor pressure from bleeding off fast enough. If the pressure cannot bleed off fast enough a DTC sets.
  • Ensure that the fresh air inlet, reference port, or vent of the component is clean, dry, and unobstructed:B150 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
