- Perform the scan tool control function:EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve»Venting&Not Venting
Verify the scan tool parameter:
- EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit High Voltage Test Status=Not RunorOK
- EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage Test Status=Not RunorOK
- EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status=Not RunorOK
- Perform the scan tool control function:EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve»Venting&Not Venting
Verify a click can be heard or felt at the following component(s) when the scan tool control function was commanded:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- If a click can be heard or felt
- Verify the scan tool parameter:
- EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit High Voltage Test Status=Not RunorOK
- EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage Test Status=Not RunorOK
- EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status=Not RunorOK
- Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
- Wiggle the harness and connector(s):Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- Wiggle the harness and connector(s):K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- All OK.
Circuit/System Testing- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 2/B&Ground
- If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Test lamp
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 2/B&Output terminal@Fuse
- If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω » Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
- If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is open
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Test lamp
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 2/B&Ground
- If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance » Replace the component:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- If the test lamp turns On
- Verify a test lamp does not turn On between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1/A&B+
- If the test lamp turns On
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1/A@Component harness&Ground
- If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- If the test lamp does not turn On
- Remove » Test Lamp
- Perform the scan tool control function:EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve»Not Venting
Verify the scan tool parameter:EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit High Voltage Test Status=OK
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1/A@Component harness&Ground
- If 1 V or greater » Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1/A&B+ circuit terminal 2/B
- Perform the scan tool control function:EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve»Not Venting
Verify the scan tool parameter:EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit High Voltage Test Status=Malfunction
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Jumper wire(s)
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1/A@Component harness&The other end of the circuit@Control module harness
- If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component:K111 Fuel Pump Driver Control Module
- Test or replace the component:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
Component TestingStatic Test- Ignition/Vehicle » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- Test for 10 to 30 Ω between the test points:Control terminal 1/A&B+ terminal 2/B
- All OK.
Dynamic Test- Ignition/Vehicle » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:B+ terminal 2/B&12 V
Caution: Complete the testing as quickly as possible in order to prevent overheating and damaging the component.
- Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the test points:Control terminal 1/A&Ground
Verify the component turns On and Off when connecting and disconnecting the jumper wire:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
- If the component turns On and Off
- All OK.
